Holidate (2020)

We watched the new Netflix holiday movie and found ourselves laughing and cringing throughout the film, which had your typical Hallmark movie plot but with more adult themes and plenty of F-bombs. With the main character donning a work-from-home pajama suit for most of the movie, it felt enough like 2020 to be familiar, but with enough “normal” life to help us forget about the quarantined life we’ve been living through. While there were some surprises, the movie was predictable and lovable, in that “can’t look away from disaster” sort of way, and since the movie did not take itself too seriously, we didn’t either and that helped us enjoy the absurdity of it even more.

“Normal” Rating Site Score: 5.7

Feel Good Rating: 8.4

Cringeworthiness: 8.1
