Our first date night in quite a while turned out to be wine and a movie in the basement, and we chose the new Netflix movie Enola Holmes, starring our favorite actress from Stranger Things Millie Bobby Brown. The film turned out to be a wonderful mix of a coming of age story and a classic detective story, and Enola owned the screen. It was so fun to watch a young woman performing all the same sort of sleuthing feats that are typically reserved for Sherlock, and getting the best of him along the way too!
The good feels come from a few angles, a cute teen romance, an unusual mother/daughter relationship, the unstoppable girl power, and the message that you can chose your own path and make the world better for those around you. As a parent to a young, strong willed girl, I found myself hoping my daughter will find characters like Enola and movies like this inspiring, and follow her lead by forging her own path and improving the world along the way.
