An entity that began as a learning toy has taken control of the world’s technology and threatens the end of humanity unless a successful rom-com emerges. Melissa McCarthy was hilarious and the superintelligence uses James Cordon’s voice and likeness to add to the ridiculous situations.
Funny and light, the movie follows the rom-con script, it even has a “running scene”, and was an easy watch, if not as heart warming as we had hoped. While many romantic comedies have absurd situations, the sci-fi end of the world portion of the movie added some humor but detracted slight from the feel good nature. A solid date night watch, it includes an RBG shirt, a Tesla, a tour of Seattle and the classic physical humor from McCarthy.
