Sylvie’s Love (2020)

From Amazon Prime, Sylvie’s Love hit all the right notes for us with beautiful love, cute children, great music and a story full of good people doing their best at life and love. This movie introduced us to former NFL star Nnamdi Asomugha as Robert and Tessa Thompson as Sylvie, who has been in some big movies that we just haven’t seen. We were hooked on them as a couple from their first scene in a record store, rooted for them through the years, jeered their bad decisions, and celebrated the nice ending. We were hooked on the soundtrack when he asked about Brilliant Corners and it got better from there.

Nothing seals a good love story for us than including children in the story, and after the story zips forward 5 years we get introduced to Sylvie’s child, and quickly confirm that Robert is the father. The family dynamic adds complexity to the drama, which of course delays the happy ending for a while. It was nice seeing both characters excel at their careers, sacrificing for the other, and ultimately realizing that professional ambition does not pay the same as a healthy relationship with your soulmate.

We were very please with this movie, and highly recommend it for a date night, or any day or night! Writing this review 2 weeks after we watched the movie is making me feel good all over again, so don’t skip this one!
