Like A Boss was funny, outrageous, ridiculous and altogether pretty nice, and a much better feel than the 4.6 IMDB rating (or the 21% RT and 33% MC ratings!). A story about friendship, trust and communication focuses on the cosmetics industry in Atlanta and a cutthroat business woman that tries to split up two BFFs. Tiffany Haddish and Rose Byrne are lifetime friends and business partners Mia and Mel who are really funny together. They both have a somewhat tragic background, and their free spirit, troublemaking friendship is fun to watch.
The movie follows a predictable arc, with success comes a rift in the friendship, and the company, followed by an epic reunion and takedown of their rotten boss, played by Salma Hayek. Most of the plot parts are ok, but the scenes of the friends just doing their thing are the best, including getting stoned and jumping off a roof into a pool at a baby shower.
So the movie wasn’t all that great, the story was fine, but the funny friendship scenes left us feeling happy and satisfied.
Feel Good Rating: 6.6
