Yes Day (2021)

It had been a few weeks since we watched a feel good movie, so we were ready for a good one. We also didn’t want to make a decision so we chose the first thing we saw on Netflix, which was Yes Day either Jennifer Garner, and we are glad we said yes to it!

As parents of two kids under 5 we spend a lot of time saying no and having power struggles over everything, from food and bedtimes to getting dressed and reading books, so it was fun to see this reflected in the movie. It’s over the top in the movie, but the good parent bad parent dynamic is one that we have to actively avoid because it is an easy trap to fall into. I especially loved his the dad is the No guy at work, and all his coworkers are acting in the same manner as his kids at home, where he is the yes parent.

We laughed out loud many times, and not just at the physical stunts but the situational humor was done well. The movie follows a predictable arc, but we love movies where we know the good times will get interrupted, and get even better at the end because of it. It even has some rom-com feels as the parents come out with a stronger relationship in the end, as well as being a better parenting unit.

Feel Good Rating: 7.7
