Undercover Detective Bennett, dressed as an elf, fails miserably at flirting to delay a suspect and the fiasco lands her a suspension. This is how Christmas Catch gets started, and the writing and filmmaking left something to be desired. That being said, we still enjoyed this film!
As far as Christmas movies go, this was a middle of the road production, but we rooted for Mack awkward attempt at dating. There was a hint of a love triangle with Mack’s partner that piqued our interest but nothing came of it.
The love story almost unravels when Mack’s love interest finds out she’s been lying about her identity, but she proves herself to him in the end, and his gift for her showed how much he cared despite the deception.
We were entertained and satisfied by this lighthearted flick, despite it earning a 5.4 on IMDb. We know movies, especially holiday ones, are more about feeling and spirit than quality, and this one fit the mold well, though it was not the best of it’s class.
Feel Good Rating: 6.4
